The owner were planned to be built their house on the land where the homes of their grandparents were located. The husband is young creator and works at home, and his wife support him. When the planning the house, they had the three main requests; “a bright living room”, “a space where friends could relax”, and “wooden interior finish.”

The house on the 2nd floor living room was planned based on these requests, land conditions and the surrounding environment. The husband’s work room, bedroom, and children’s room are located on the first floor as a private space. The floor height is kept at a rather low 2.2 meters, simplifying the flow line to the open space on the second floor. This design creates air-conditioning efficiency and good ventilation, and gives the impression that the upper and lower floors are seamlessly connected.

This house also considers the heat insulation performance of the body. Specifications are above next-generation energy-saving standards. The heat load in the room is reduced, and in combination with the good ventilation, we have realized a comfortable indoor environment that requires almost no air conditioning even in the summer. Actually, the utility cost is about 20,000 yen per month including air conditioning and heating, hot water supply, and other electricity bills.

The interior design with a focus on wood is also a major feature of this house. The floor is made of acacia wood that the owner knew at his previous lumber company. The Lauan plywood on the ceiling was also a difficult material with variations in color and texture, but the texture was utilized only by clear painting.

The living room on the 2nd floor has a large window that creates a spacious and bright atmosphere. The owner was very pleased with the appearance that was strongly conscious of design, and offered to light up at night. This attractive house is a place of relaxation and having fun for families and their friends.
